Doodle Burgers

I'm feeling nostalgic today. Growing up, say around the time I was 8, there was a burger joint near my house called Doodle Burgers. All the legs of the tables had tube socks and converse on them, and they sold things like Double Doodle Burgers, and Doodle Dogs. And there was a jukebox and I remember one time I accidentally played Pac Man Fever and was super embarassed. I wish I could go to Doodle Burgers for dinner tonight.

My brother and I loved Doodle Burger (down off of 70th street, right?). I have no idea if the food was actually any good but I definitely have fond memories of it.

Yep, over near where the Denny's is. I have no idea if I liked the food, but I loved the restaurant. I'm so glad someone else remembers it!

My room mate and I used to eat at Doodle Burgers all the time. Love those tables...and the food was great. Just off Seventieth Street on Alvarado Street near San Diego State University....too bad it didn't last.

Wow. I worked at the India street store. Great food, and beer. For the little ones it was a Doodle bug burger. Thanks for sharing.

A bunch of us from General Dynamics Convair Division down on Pacific Coast Highway used to take the trek to Doodle Burger on India Street at least once a week for years (1987 - 1991). Enjoyed it and the burgers were the best any where. Lots of good times there. Wonder why they closed down!?!

Doodle Burger was the better version of today’s Fatburger. The fresh hamburger meat & totally awesome tasting bun, with real chopped onions, relish, an egg if you wanted, unlike any burger made today. Alas, no more.

It was the very BEST! The fresh hamburger meat & the totally awesome different tasting bun, made it a burger that NOBODY could match. From a guy who has eaten burgers nationwide. Alas, no more.

Back in the day, I lived off India and Washington and would often eat at Doogle Burgers. Outstanding burgers and a rib eye sandwich to die for...I miss them!

I am the only person who remembers this. It was on Rosecrans street

Which location did you work at?

Yes. I remember as well. Definitely on Rosecrans. My Dad took me there often as a kid. I distinctly recall the decor and the tables with shoes/feet.

I wish I could find photos of the original restaurant interiors from the 80’s. Have repeatedly tried over the years, to no avail.
